Fishing for young poets

Calling all young poets! Are you passionate about fishing and poetry? Then you won't want to miss the "Fishing for young poets" competition at the Guyra Trout Festival on 1 October 2023.

The competition is open to young people aged 7-18 years old. To enter, simply write a poem. The poem can be about anything.There are both a written and performance categories and grouped in ages 6 to 9, 10 to 14 and 15 to 18.

The winning poems in each age category will be awarded a prize of $50, second prize $25 and will be published in the Guyra Trout Festival poetry book.

The competition will be judged by a panel of experienced poets.

Poets Breakfast

The "Fishing for young poets" performance competition will be held during the Poets Breakfast, beginning at 9 am Sunday October 1, a special event for poets of all ages. The breakfast will feature the performance competition, announcement of the written prize winners, readings from local poets, poet walk ups, as well as a chance to network with other poets.

The breakfast is free to attend and food will be available for purchase.

The "Guyra Trout Festival" Youth Poetry Competition is designed to encourage students to explore their written and performance creativity.
